Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why does a copied special character show up as a box (□)?

If the font where you paste it does not support that Unicode character, it appears as a tofu box (□, ▯). It usually displays correctly with a different font or on a newer operating system or browser.

Can I type special characters directly from the keyboard?

On Windows press Win+. to open the emoji and symbol panel; on Mac press Control+Command+Space for the Character Viewer. You can also type a Unicode code point. See the guide to typing special characters for details.

Where can I paste special characters?

You can paste them almost anywhere you can enter text - social media, messengers, document editors and nickname fields. Some games or services may restrict special character input.

Does this tool store my data?

No. The special character list is built into your browser, and copying happens only on your device. Nothing you type or copy is sent to or stored on a server.
